Through Love Dane, Dane County churches serve at volunteer sites who are their community partners, like schools or community centers.
To establish a volunteer site, someone from a church needs to volunteer to help coordinate a site with an existing community partner. Once there is a coordinator identified (also called a “Coordinating Church” coordinator), other churches can join in to support the project.
-
There are three ways a church can be involved with Love Dane. They can be a:
Coordinating Church - A church willing to work with an existing community partner they have to coordinate a Love Dane work site. A representative from this church is the primary point of contact for the site staff (e.g. the school principal or facility director), participates in the Love Dane planning process, and manages volunteers at the site during the Love Dane workday.
Recommended for churches with a good partnerships who want to support their partners more deeply with a big impact.
Supporting Church - A church seeking connection with a community partner through collaboration. A representative from this church keeps in touch with and assists the Coordinating Church contact in the planning stages and offers to help manage volunteers during the event. We hope that each site will have at least one supporting church to lean into the uniting and collaborative nature of this event.
Recommended for churches with no partners or young partnerships that want to build relationships with a community partner and/or other churches.
Volunteering Church - A church that cannot participate in the planning process but would like to promote Love Dane as an opportunity for their congregation to serve.
Recommended for churches that might not have as much congregational buy-in or capacity for the planning process.

Yes! If your church doesn’t officially get involved, we would love for you to volunteer with us! Find a site that makes sense for your location and join us!
And, if participating this year gets you excited to get your church on board in the future, we’d love for you to connect us with someone in your church who could make that decision next year.

Thanks to sponsors for this event and our sustaining donors, we’re able to coordinate this event at no cost to churches, so that there are no barriers to participate.
However, we also welcome churches to sponsor the event if they are able and find it in alignment with their goals and mission.
