3 Years to Celebrate: Some Favorite Stories of Collaboration

In celebration of our anniversary, we are rejoicing in all of the incredible work God has done in bringing churches together over the past three years. There have been many diverse and unique types of collaboration we’ve witnessed in our community. We have pulled together 10 favorite stories from the last three years that reflect the various ways God has been at work within and among the Church in Dane County. We encourage you to explore these stories and revisit with us the exciting work of God in our midst!

  • August 25, 2019: Lakeview Moravian Community Church and St. Luke’s Episcopal Church collaborate to provide weekend meals for local school children at Henry Schenk Elementary. Read the story

  • March 28, 2020: Bethany Evangelical Free Church shares its space with three other churches: Greater Madison Chinese Evangelical Free Church, Nueva Vida (New Life) Church, and Bethany Lao. Now four different churches with services in four different languages meet in the Bethany Ministry Center. Read the story

  • April 21 2020: Lighthouse Church and Mt. Zion Baptist Church collaborated to develop a Psalm 46 Covid Relief Fund for Latino and African American individuals in need. Read the story.

  • June 4, 2020: Rev. Dr. Marcus Allen of the African American Council of Churches rallies white church engagement in anti-racism efforts. Read the story.

  • July 30, 2020: The African American Council of Churches, in partnership with the Psalm 46 Relief Fun, organizes a Juneteenth Giveaway that serves over 2,000 households in Dane County. Read the story.

  • October 3, 2020: Madison Church and Trinity United Methodist Church collaborate to organize a blood drive with the increased need during COVID. Read the story.

Pastor Marcio Sierra from Lighthouse Church & Pastor Karla Garcia from S.S. Morris Community AME Church

  • December 4, 2020: Seven churches join together to put on an Advent Adventure: scenes of the nativity story for the community to enjoy in a drive-by experience. Read the story.

  • February 21, 2021: Lighthouse Church, discovering that S.S. Morris Community AME Church needed some roof repairs, organizes a financial gift that led to a beautiful relationship between the churches. Read the story.

Emma Wawa & Pastor John Clark

  • April 2, 2021: The partnership between Life Center Madison and Eglise Francophone de Madison developed from primarily sharing space to doing joint Sunday services, with sermons in both English and French. Read the story.

  • December 17, 2021: As the holidays approached, Collaboration Project organized an initiative for pastor encouragement called Spread Good Cheer. Favorite drinks and notes of encouragement from parishioners were delivered to pastors from over 25 churches. Read the story.

 

We hope these stories are a source of encouragement for you! Each of these stories bears direct witness to the work of God in Dane County over the past three years. We celebrate all that God has done to bring the Church together in such beautiful ways and look forward to the stories that will be told in the future.
