“Seek the peace and prosperity of the city to which I have carried you into exile. Pray to the LORD for it, because if it prospers, you too will prosper.”
Jeremiah 29:7
The goal: to pray for our community together.
The numbers shown for now are reflective of the prayer that has gone into the planning process. Each day of the United Week of Prayer, these numbers and prayer walk map will be updated. We hope it stirs excitement about being a part of something bigger.
Christians across all traditions hold a high value of prayer, believing that prayer transforms communities and our hearts. And, as we pray with and for others, we:
Gain a wider perspective into what God sees,
Learn new ways to engage with God through prayer
& deepen our familiarity with the specific needs of our area.
How do I participate?
-
Walk near where you live, work, or worship, and let what you see on your walk inform what you pray about. These can be solo walks, in small groups, or through a coordinated effort put on by a church.
Church-led prayer walks you are welcome to join:
Sunday, April 26 at 4:30pm at Orchard Church
Saturday, May 2 at 12pm at New Beginnings Alliance Church
So that we can see the momentum of these prayer walks, we’re using a Prayer Walk App to show what parts of our community have been prayed over so far.
Register below/commit to walking and you’ll receive instructions about the app and best practices for prayer walks.
-
Attend a community-focused prayer event led by a local church:
Wednesday, April 29
7pm at the Church at Christ Memorial (2833 Raritan Rd, Fitchburg, WI 53711)
7pm at Geneva Campus Church (401 N Blackhawk Ave, Madison, WI 53705), partnering with Centro Cristiano
Friday, May 1
6pm at Westwood Christian Church (5210 Odana Rd, Madison, WI 53711)
7pm at New Culture (301 S Bedford St #219, Madison, WI 53703)
-
We will send out short daily emails during United Week of Prayer containing focused prayer prompts and requests. Sign up to receive these emails.
The first daily email will come Sunday, April 26 and the last will come Saturday, May 2nd.
As a ministry leader, how do I get my church involved?
-
Set a time and place to invite your congregation and other interested Christians to walk in prayer around the community. Tell our team (button below) what you plan to do and we’ll share some resources and best practices.
-
Plan a prayer event that centers on prayer for the community.
These may be worship and prayer services, prayer vigils, time for people to come and receive prayer from prayer teams, or events with a variety of guided prayer experiences or stations.
Ultimately, the style is up to you. To have it be an event we publicize as a part of this united effort, we simply ask that:
Registrations/RSVPs come through us so that we have a sense of engagement.
The prayer focuses on the flourishing of the community.
You share with us how it went via pictures and/or a recap story.
-
Using the below media kit and the channels in your church, share about this opportunity to join with other churches in Dane County to pray for the community.
